Emery wrinkled her nose and threw a glance over her shoulder. A thick blackness filled the woods and was continuing to grow darker. Soon even her night vision equipped eyes would need some light. Though the path had disappeared long ago, the massive trees stood just far enough apart in most places for Tempest to gallop through. The adventurous feelings were fading as they continued to ride for miles and miles without sight of anyone. Emery was deeply unnerved by the way her sense of time was completely nonexistent. When she tried to think it about it, it seemed they could have been 6 hours from the path or only 5 minutes. "Woaah, boy" She said, tugging gently on the reins. Tempest slowed to a halt and stood silently as his friend dismounted and walked around to his head. The massive stallion's gentle eyes were trained on Emery as she dug around in the backpack, finally withdrawing a granola bar and a shimmering vial of fluorescent liquid. She took a bite of the granola bar and then offered it up to Tempest. In seconds the food was gone and Tempest snuffled at Emery's tank top, hoping for more. "None of that boy," Emery sighed and held up the liquid. "But this should give up some more light" She popped the top off the potion and sniffed at it. It smelled slightly metallic and cold, with some bright, minty flavor. With her horse watching curiously, Emery stuck her tongue in the bottle and flinched back, startling the attentive Tempest. Alexa had packed the Moonglow potion for them in lieu of a more traditional flashlight. "I um.... I don't think it's intended for my kind." She grinned and stepped closer to Tempest. "I'm sure you'll like it though." She pushed the bottle towards the stallions mouth and sniffed it a moment before taking it between his teeth and drinking the whole thing. A shimmering, white aura flared out from his body before dimming to a steady glow that concentrated around his hooves and tail. Emery stepped back to admire the gleam before re-shouldering her pack and climbing up onto Tempest. She retrieved her map and the two headed out again into the dark, surrounded by the renewed confidence lent by the glow.
